Explanation
His voice was soft. “You—you nearly died.” He waved vaguely at her right side where the monstrous scar hid beneath layers of winter clothing. “It takes time to recover from something like that. Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
Nearly died, he’d said. That was the first time anyone had given her an inkling into how serious the wound had been. Nearly died.
–current draft of Book Two
So when I said possibly long hiatus, I meant because I was about to have a baby. The hiatus become even longer than I expected when I nearly died. Yup, you read that right. I nearly died. As I lay in the ICU, the above quote ran through my head. Until I overheard my husband say, “We nearly lost her,” I didn’t know how serious things had been. Like my heroine, I now have a scar hidden beneath layers of winter clothing. Unlike my heroine, I took more than a week and a half to recover. Sadly, I am not superhuman.
On the bright side, I actually recovered very well for a nonsuperhuman, and now I know what massive blood loss feels like. I always said if something dramatc like that happened, I would just say it was good experience for my stories. 😉
With a thankfully healthy newborn on hand, updates may not be as regular as in the past, but I hope to get back into the swing of things soon.
Happy Writing!
