Summer Fun Character Trading
More on characters. A good exercise for learning to write different characters is one my friends and I did in high school. We had a sort of character-trading club (the idea was started by my best friend). We each came up with a plot-line. We then sent the plot summary along with a biographical questionnaire through email to the other members of the club. Each member came up with a character for that author’s plot, answering the questionnaire.
The different characters I had to work with stretched me as a writer. Plus, it was just lots of fun. My best friend came up with the best characters. Everyone else hinted to me that it would be okay if her character fell in love with my best friend’s character (who was rockin’ awesome, I freely admit 🙂 ).
Get together with some writer friends and have some summer fun!
